Here at Alexandria K, we stand behind the quality of our necklaces. Our necklaces are meant to be worn for many years but in order for the jewelry to retain its allure, beauty, and shine it requires proper care and maintenance. We suggest the following care tips. Please read carefully

Remove all necklaces before showering and swimming. Avoid contact with harsh chemicals, lotions, and perfumes. Lastly store in a cool, dry place.

We recommend keeping gold-filled and gold-plated necklaces dry when possible to ensure the longevity of your pieces. If they happen to get wet, they will not tarnish. However, we recommend you dry them immediately. Please keep your jewelry away from harsh chemicals, oil, perfume, and jewelry cleaners.

Gold-filled necklaces can withstand the normal wear and tear of showering and sleeping; however, to preserve the longevity of the necklaces we recommend keeping anything that is not solid gold dry.

How do I clean my necklaces?

For gold-plated and gold-filled necklaces, please use a soft jewelry cloth to wipe the necklaces and restore shine.

For sterling silver necklaces, please soak them in warm soapy water for 5-10 minutes and use a soft bristle brush to reach any hard to clean spots.

Where should I store my necklaces?

In a cool, dry place.

I have a jewelry allergy. Can I purchase your necklaces?

People with jewelry allergies are usually allergic to nickel. All our gold-filled items are hypoallergenic and nickel free.

What is gold-filled jewelry?

Gold-filled jewelry also known as rolled gold jewelry is not actually filled with gold. They are instead fused with gold. We use a jewelers brass base metal and the gold sets are bonded together onto the brass with heat and pressure. Our gold-filled pieces have 100+ times more gold than gold plated items to ensure the durability and longevity of each piece.

With proper care, gold-filled pieces can last as long as 14k solid gold pieces. Purchase gold-filled pieces when you want top of the line pieces without top of the line prices.

What is gold-plated jewelry?

Gold plated jewelry uses electricity to deposit a thin layer of gold onto another metal such as copper or silver. Gold plated items are not hypoallergenic.

What is sterling silver jewelry?

925 sterling silver is composed of pure sterling silver and another metal such as copper in order to give the silver strength and durability. The standard percentage is 92.5% pure silver and 7.5% other metals such as copper, which is why it is named 925 sterling silver. Sterling silver is generally hypoallergenic.

What is the difference between gold-filled and gold-plated pieces?

Gold filled pieces are the closest thing to solid gold. They are meant to last many years and will not tarnish with proper care. Over time they can fade a bit, but they will never reveal the metal underneath. Gold plated items typically last a couple years and can fade quicker.
